I have worked in the hair industry for over 8 years now and have progressed up the ranks to become the salon manager in my local salon. I am a salon manager running the salon from behind the chair, but no longer running my own column. This means that I am no longer hairdressing however I have never been so busy!!! So much needs to be done!
A lot goes in to running a salon and I now wonder how on earth salons out there manage without dedicating time to other areas of the business especially in today's changing times. It is no longer enough to just do a great hair cut, and have an ad in the yellow pages. Social media is becoming a great source of clientele building, website, reviews, blogging the list goes on and on and on!
Now that I can dedicate my time to running the salon, managing my team, the reception (front of house) and allocating and delegating tasks, the salon business is beginning to thrive, new clients in a regular stream, referrals are increasing and our regular clientele is still our main focus.
I have started this blog to share my daily achievements, thoughts and what works and what doesn't in running a salon and basically share my life online as a salon manager running a small local salon.
I hope you enjoy.
Jo
